Construction Misconceptions

1. Misconception: New homes are more expensive than pre-owned homes

Reality: When people hear the phrase “new home” the word “expensive” comes with it. The beauty of working with a custom home builder is the ability to customize your budget. You can design your home by adding features you can’t live without and taking out features you feel you don’t need. With pre-owned homes you have to spend time remodeling old appliances and outdated features that aren’t your style. Remodeling on average costs up twice as much per square foot as buying new and customizing yourself.

2. Misconception: Custom Homes take too long to build

Reality: JLP has developed a process to make your construction project as fluid as possible. Our planning program has built in measures for you pick all selections and pricing for details prior to contract signing. We try to do everything before hand so we can be clear about cost and time of build. We all have heard the the common horror stories of lengthy homebuilding. This is a result of miscommunications that lead to work having to be redone or different supplies ordered.
